Hard Tack: Suvivors Best Friend

Hey everyone sorry for not writing in so long school has been tough and I have not had time to write. Here you go!
Hard tack it might not tast verry good but it can keep you alive. Here is a simple recipe to make hard tack.

HOW TO MAKE HARDTACK:1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

2) Measure 2 cups of flour, and put in a mixing bowl.

3) Slowly add water (salted or unsalted) a little at a time to make a dough.

4) Roll out the dough until it is 1/4 inch thick (you can make it thicker, but remember there are no dentists out in the wilderness to fix any chips on your teeth!)

5) Cut the dough into squares, bigger than the modern saltine cracker.

6) Use a fork to prick holes in the top to let the steam escape.

7) Lay out squares on a baking tray.

8) The cooking temperatures vary, so listen up!

9) Bake at 350 degrees of the first 15 minutes. For the next 30 minutes cook at 250 degrees, and then for another 30 minutes, turn the heat down to 200 degrees. Throughout, flip them with a spatula so they are evenly cooked on both sides. You will know they are done when the squares are hard, and either still white or off white. Don't wait until they burn!

10) Now you have hardtack to seal up in mylar bags or vacuum seal to make them last.

Review Of The Cold Steel .625 Magnum Blowgun

I am doing a review of the cold steel .625 Mag. blowgun. There are five different types of blowguns you can buy the five-foot professional, five-foot standard, five foot two peice, four-foot pro and the four-foot standard. I have the five-foot two piece. I am very impressed with its performance and durability I have put this blowgun through its paces and it has preformed amazingly. The accuracy is astonishing. The power behind the darts is devastating. I can punch a hole in a 1/4 inch piece of plywood with one of the stun darts. The blowgun comes with 36 darts total. It comes with 12 stun darts which are really efective on birds 12 mini broadheads which are good for just about everything from mice to medium size dogs 6 broadheads which suck and 6 bamboo darts these are very light weight and efective for birds and other miniture game.

This is an excellent blowgun to carry in your BOB because it breaks into two pieces which are about two feet long. The darts are also very easy to make out in the woods I am going to do a separate post on that. With how to instructions.

Securing Your BOL Post SHTF or TEOTWAWKI

This could be one of the most important things which you do. Your BOL is your safe haven it is your refuge from the outside world. At your Bug Out Location you should build up layers of defense like alarms and trip wires etc.

Alarms: Take as much 10 lb. test fishing line that will surround your BOL and tie it to a bell of some sort that way if someone steps on or trips over the line it will ring the the bell. Also you could invest in motion detector flood lights and post them strategically around your property.

Booby Traps: I know it is illegal to trap someone who is trespassing but after a TEOTWAWKI you are going to need all of the security that is available. One really simple one is is take a shot gun shell and a mouse trap. take the trap and drill a hole that is big enough for the shotgun shell to fit through and there you go you can use your imagination from there. Another is a leg hold trap. Dig a hole around 2 feet deep and drive steaks into the side of the hole angled down all the way around the cylindrical hole.

Other alarms: I would suggest a well trained dog would be an excellent alarm and defence.
